Oregon, also known as Douglas Fir, grows in the heart of North America as well as New Zealand and Australia. Unlike Pine, Oregon has less knots and are less prone to bow or loose it’s “straightness”.
Used in areas such as framing and timber portal frames, Oregon is quite durable and both sapwood and heartwood resist impregnation with preservatives. Douglas Fir does lack against termites.
